AZ law requires persons over 18 without AZDL have valid ID on them at all times. Not carrying a valid ID card is grounds for the Police to detain a person. Also Phx Police and Maricopa Sheriff’s Dept. are two seperate entities that operate by the written laws of AZ. Concealment of ID is grounds for arrest in all 50 States

Alex Jones was arrested God knows how many times and he’ll probably be arrested again. Nelson Mandela was in a (South African, not American) prison 17 years. THAT’s hardcore. New Hampshire free staters are taking pot into the police station and putting it on the counter. This on the other hand was a traffic stop and driving without a license.

Well, you were on a public roadway. (A license is not required on private property, such as a farm or driveway. Public roadway is a different story.) I see a traffic stop, he asked for a drivers’ license, and you didn’t present one.
ID and a license are two different things.
Unless the paper you handed him was given to you by the DMV with your license number and stats on it, I don’t see the cop acting out of line here. Sorry, just calling it like I see it.

You have to show proof of identification. Like the officer said, how does he know you are who you say you are if you don’t produce a valid photo id? But anyway, have fun at court, make sure you take that attitude with you, I’m sure it will impress the judge.
